The XVIII Harmonius School of Law, an international conference focusing on the law in Southeast Europe, organized by the Harmonius Independent Association-network of Legal Scholars, and the Judicial Academy, was held on Friday, November 24, 2023, on the topic: “Business and legal challenges of the Open Balkan”.
The conference was held in a hybrid format. The first part of this year’s Harmonius law school was held at the Faculty of Law of the University of Belgrade, while the second part was held at the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Serbia. Besides the participants that were at the Conference in person, participants were also present in the online form.
Participants of the Conference were greeted with an opening speech by Prof. Dr. Nenad Tešić, president of the Harmonius Association, as well as the Vice dean for academic affairs at the Faculty of Law, University of Belgrade, Prof. Dr. Bojan Milisavljević.
There was a total of 19 presentations that presented at seven panels dedicated to current issues and topics related to the initiative Open Balkan. The conference was attended by the members of the academic community, but also experts from practice, from Serbia, as well as other countries of the Western Balkan’s region – Republic of Croatia, Republic of North Macedonia and the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The presentations were followed by an interesting discussion. After the end of the working part of the Conference, there followed the closing remarks of the organizer of the meeting, as well as the awarding of certificates to the participants.
The Organizational team of the Conference consisted of Professor Dr. Nenad Tešić and teaching assistants Marija Vlajković, Stefan Jovanović, Mina Kuzminac i Darko Stevanović.
All papers presented at this international conference will be published in the new issue of Harmonius – Journal for Legal and Social Studies in South East Europe, 2023.
